CBD vs. THC: Side effects

CBD is generally well tolerated, even at higher doses. Any potential side effects of CBD are typically due to interactions with other medications, possibly leading to liver damage.

THC can induce temporary side effects and long-term adverse psychiatric effects due to its psychoactive nature. Neither compound is associated with fatalities, although prolonged high THC consumption may contribute to enduring negative psychiatric effects, particularly among adolescents.

Persistent cannabis use may also result in amotivational syndrome, characterized by symptoms of depression and decreased motivation. However, there is no definitive evidence proving that cannabis use directly causes psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia.
